About Washed Process:

After depulping the coffee, they ferment the coffee overnight to beak down the sticky fruit mucilage surrounding the seeds. The coffee is then soaked and washed in clean water, then moved to raised drying beds where it will dry for around 1-2 weeks.

About La Miel:

La Miel was founded by a couple of coffee farmers in love—Yulisa Ester Carhuallocllo and her husband, Jeremias Chinguel Huancas—who wanted to improve the quality of the coffee from their farm. They improved their planting techniques and processing, selecting traditional varieties (Bourbon and Caturra) as well as exotics (Gesha) to plant on the farm. The farm is named after the bees they keep—which produces honey and helps to pollinate the coffee blossoms as well as the vituca, guava and orange trees growing there. With the premiums she receives, Yulisa hopes to grow her business both by expanding her farm to increase her volume of production as well as starting a roasted brand to sell roasted coffee locally.
